Spot Meningitis Symptoms - life saving information available by SMS text

MRF launched the first SMS text message service providing symptoms information to the public quickly, efficiently and via a method which makes it easy to identify meningitis or septicaemia.
- The SMS text information service aims to reach teenagers, young adults and young parents quickly and through a medium which they use daily - the mobile phone - to ensure they know the symptoms to look out for in case of illness. Once downloaded to a mobile, the video is an always available resource which can be referred to at any time.
- There are nine cases of meningitis in the UK every day. A death occurs almost every day and a further two people per day will suffer life-altering after-effects such as brain damage, deafness and amputations
- Meningitis and septicaemia are diseases that can develop very quickly and can kill in hours. Therefore, it is vital to know the symptoms and the need to obtain medical help immediately if a case is suspected.
To receive symptoms by SMS, text MRF to 82088. This text will be a standard rate text. MRF will not charge you for the video but minimal data download charges from your operator will apply.
