Now is the time for action: national plans to defeat meningitis

Write to your government and accelerate progress.

Ready to take action?

The World Health Organization’s Global Road Map to Defeat Meningitis by 2030 urges every country to develop a national meningitis plan.

These plans, tailored to meet a country’s individual needs, are key to improving meningitis prevention, diagnosis, treatment and aftercare.

If fully implemented, the Road Map could eliminate bacterial meningitis epidemics, reduce disability and save the lives of more than 920,000 people by 2030.

But this vision can only be realised if governments honour their commitments.

First, find out what stage your country has reached in this process.

Use the drop-down menu below to select your country. You’ll be guided to a tailored letter-writing template to help you call for action.

The visuals and data in this map are imported from Meningitis Research Foundation’s Meningitis Progress Tracker. The map reflects Meningitis Research Foundation’s current understanding of progress to develop national plans. Information has been gathered from a range of different sources, including communications with WHO colleagues and updates at meetings like the World Health Assembly.
