Amazing £100,000 raised in memory of Glenn Robinson

Ken Robinson from Newbottle, Sunderland, has reached an incredible fundraising milestone of £100,000 for Meningitis Research Foundation (MRF) in memory of his son Glenn, a promising cricketer who tragically died from meningococcal septicaemia at the age of 16 in 1997.

In the years since Glenn passed away Ken has worked tirelessly, with the help of his family, friends and local community, to raise these funds. His late wife Brenda did a huge amount of the fundraising before she sadly passed away in 2010.

Ken became an official Ambassador for the charity in 2012 - a role that involves raising awareness of meningitis and septicaemia in his area.

For many years Ken and his granddaughter, Hannah, also an MRF Ambassador, have been involved in organising an annual fundraising ladies day cricket match. This year two longstanding MRF staff surprised Ken by attending the match to present a plaque for him and the community to recognise the £100,000 fundraising milestone.
