Action and support

One of the earliest reasons for Meningitis Research Foundation forming was to offer emotional support to those affected by meningitis in their darkest moments. Every day we answer your questions, so no one affected by meningitis is alone.

Our wraparound approach to support is a cornerstone of our purpose, and it's not just much-needed emotional support we offer. We can connect you with evidence-based information and specialists, to help you make informed healthcare decisions for yourself and those you love.

We are taking action every day to meet the global goal of defeating meningitis by 2030. We bring together people from every region of the world, sharing knowledge, data and understanding of meningitis.

Here are some of our current action and support initiatives.

Sharing stories to save lives worldwide. For you, by you.

Sharing real experiences spreads awareness, fosters understanding, and inspires and empowers others. That’s why we’re collecting 2,030 of your stories to support the goal of defeating meningitis by 2030.
We are proud to provide wrap-around support, and we’re available whenever and however you need help.
Genomic surveillance uses cutting-edge technology to study the genetic make-up of meningitis-causing bacteria, and it’s essential for effective disease control. The rise in the use of genome sequencing has been driven by a small group of countries, so the collections currently available don’t represent the global picture.

Meningitis is a major global health challenge. By establishing the Global Meningitis Genome Partnership (GMGP), we are helping wider international participation in genome sequencing of meningitis-causing bacteria.
Our Pushing the Boundaries events offer support for families with children who have lost limbs due to meningitis and sepsis. We invite industry experts and leading scientists to share specialist advice, and we know that families get so much from meeting and talking to others who have been through similar experiences.
Meningitis & Me is a video series where users can watch and comment on videos for people affected by meningitis and sepsis. It’s available 24/7 and we created it to be another line of support, as well as a space for supportive dialogue between people with real-life experience of meningitis and its after-effects.
