WHO’s investment case and the first high-level meeting to defeat meningitis

What this publication and event mean for civil society and global efforts to defeat the disease. 

On 26th April 2024, the World Health Organization (WHO) held the first high-level meeting to defeat meningitis. The event was a global call to action to boost political, technical and financial commitments towards defeating meningitis.  

The event included the launch of WHO’s publication Investing to defeat meningitis and beyond. The investment case sets out the resources needed to achieve the milestones in the WHO Global Road Map. Without investment, defeating meningitis by 2030 remains a hope, not a plan.
