Jake Challis
My son Jake Challis suffered meningococcal sepsis on December 11th 2005 when he was just 10 months old.

Jake was unwell in the morning so we took him to our local hospital, and later that night he was taken to St Mary’s Hospital London.

He was very ill when he arrived and we weren’t sure if he would make it, but, thanks to the help and expert care Jake received he’s still here today.

Jake lost three fingers, suffered scarring and skin damage and has severe problems with his legs –
he will need framework surgery when he’s older.

He has spent lots of time in hospitals having operations, check-ups etc and I would like to say he’s been so brave, patient and a wonderful boy throughout everything he’s been through and my partner and I are very proud of him.
